PIMG was established in the early 1990s by a group of Vipassana practitioners, guided and encouraged by Steve Armstrong, with the intention of facilitating retreats in the Theravada tradition. Since that time, the group has continued to organize two retreats per year bringing teachers from around the world to Jhana Grove Retreat Centre in Serpentine, W.A.
Jhana Grove was opened in October 2009 by the Buddhist Society of W.A. Nestled in a valley of the Darling Scarp this dedicated Meditation Centre can accommodate up to 60 guests each with their own room and en-suite. There is a comfortable dining room, a large air-conditioned meditation hall with adjoining walking rooms and covered walkways which provides a secluded environment conducive to meditation practice.
Vipassana or Mindfulness practice is simple and direct. It is the moment-to-moment investigation of the mind/body process through calm, open and precise awareness.
Learning to observe experience from a place of spacious stillness enables one to relate to life with a balance of wisdom and compassion.
Feel free to reach out with any questions or inquiries you might have. The doors to our community are open to you, and we look forward to welcoming you soon.
